ΦΡΑΠΕ ΚΑΙ ΛΑΙΚΑ

So.. I get to this store this morning, I open up to drop off my computer bag and make a sign ‘I’m next door watching the Euro Cup, call me if you need me to open’ lol.

 Anyway.. As I’m making the sign, I see this short couple walking by the store.. I don’t think they know where my new location is*, so I run outside to check out where they’re going. I see them going into my old neighbor’s magazi, the pastry shop. I wait by the door for a bit, to hopefully catch them on the way back. I do, and the old man was so happy to see me. I gave him my card and told him that we have the same number as the old shop.. They come in to look around.. the old man says something about Makis Xristodolopoulos. I had this idea, since I had a promo live CD of his lying around, that I’d give him the cd. His wife decides to buy a cd.. As I’m ringing them up, I tell them I’m giving them a Maki CD. The old man, who has been a pretty good customer of mine for years, grabs my hand and says, ‘I’ve never gotten a gift in my life.. thank you, god bless you..’

Now.. I dunno if this is just exaggeration or not.. but.. hearing that made me feel SO good. Plus, they are a cute old Greek couple that go to church every Sunday.. Lord knows I could use some extra prayers. 

*since the fire, the toughest struggle I’ve had is getting the word out about Greektown Music. I don’t have a huge advertising budget, I’m just a small business, a small niche business at that. I use social media, I send emails, I’ve sent letters and fliers to all the Churches in the Chicagoland area.. and of course, I’m basically going door to door, seeing people and telling them. The only thing I can do is keep fighting.

**Side note about this couple:: I brought Lena Papadopoulou and Stamatis Gonidis one year. It was bouzoukia style, no dinner though. This couple, along with their parea, went to the Pizza Hut down the street from the banquet hall and bought like 4 or 5 pizzas.. I was at the door taking tickets and someone working security for me goes, “uhhh, yianni should I…” I go, ‘nahhh. it’s fine. I know them.’ ha ha ha

There is still a chance for Greece to advance to the next round:

A)Russia or Poland wins today, Poland beats Czech Republic in the next game, and Greece beats Russia.

B) Poland and Russia tie today, regardless if it is a tie or win between Poland and Czech Republic for either of the countries, if Greece wins against Russia they will advance. #Believe!!!!
